i just started the lotus eaters episode
I have read the first four episodes or about ten percent of the book (and understood about ten percent of the read portion). So far, I enjoyed the Nestor episode the most. The Proteus episode was fun but I had a harder time distinguishing between actual action, remembered action, and imagined action than I did with the other episodes. The Proteus section is rumored to be a common dropping off point, so I feel good about having not just finished but also enjoyed it.
Everytime I feel like I get a handle on the rhythm of the writing it seems to change. Reading out loud, or more often just hearing the words in my head instead of just seeing them in my head seems to help me feel the flow of the text better. -mumblelard
